So - I let my paid LJ lapse so am back to having ads all the time on there - but I wasn't really willing to pay for LJ with how it goes now - I did import all my LJ before hand though, to make sure I didn't lose anything.

I also had a moment where I thought I still had loads of links to my ancient photobucket account, but it turns out I stopped using them years ago, like almost a decade o.O - so my graphics links are actually pretty much all still live so yay.

We didn't have a great wimbledon - but we did get some champions so not terrible (mixed doubles and wheelchair ladies and gents doubles! aka we're good at doublea apparently ;) )

13th Doctor got announced - and yay girl!doctor is canon (though *coughs* we did have a girl!doctor in the comic relief skit ;) ) though not sure about the actress (and it feels more and more like the joss whedon old boys club thing - with her having worked so much with the new boss :/) but we'll have to see!
(I am actually going to watch it again, just to see what new showrunner does, as his run of Torchwood was the best, though his other work is a bit mixed....)

I dropped out of het big bang (because I couldn't see me getting done in time so :/) - but Genex and most likely crossovering (though a little foiled, as someone listed one of my fandoms saying they'd nom'd it, turns out they hadn't? But still plenty of options, it's just deciding....)

Will be posting some scottish castle photos tomorrow (from my May tour of the isles ;) - I saw lots of pretty castles, though sadly you can't go into many of them cos ruins and having the hound).

Hello to new friends :D

-

So - I am doing Nanowrimo this year - I have the epic project of doom that I have been failing to do for an age (and signed up to do for bigb bangs only to fail and drop out *face palm*) but I am finally motivated to get it done.

This means the next month is going to be plotting and planning out (it's.....bigger than nano size? as a total thing? but I figure using nano to get going is a good plan). I'm casting the OCs (I did not, sadly, actually realize that there are no blind actors/actresses? I knew there were deaf actors/actresses, and a range of other disabled peeps in the industry, but I honestly never knew this :/ - and I never looked before, despite my 'why is auggie played by a seeing guy' mini rant back when covert affairs started)

Let me know if you're taking part as well :)

-

I'm away this weekend (well - friday-tuesday) at a Convention, and visiting museums (because the cheap trains are stupid times, so I am using it to expand it to museums and convention).

Going mostly for exhibitions (Fire of London, sunken cities, clangers!) - might poke other museums other than those three as well - still a few I haven't explored in London!

I am hoping it will cool off a little (I am now into the 'it has been too hot and humid for too long and nose bleeds allllll the time' stage :/ Not fun, espec the random while driving one.)

-
TV-
I am trying to figure out if there is going to be any more George Gently (One of the few tv shows I am actively engaged in enough to watch live/when airs first) - but can find nothing :(

I am excited for The Librarians season three - and I am enjoying Wynonna Earp season one, so season two will be watched (with parents, as they both enjoy 'buffy with a gun') - and there's Luke Cage.

I will probably, in the end, but after it airs, watch season 12 of Criminal Minds (because all the girls and a better racial balance than almost forever). Other stuff - I will be poking for Supergirl to see what it's like, and Conviction, along with a few others shows I may give a go.

So, to spare you all, this is going to be behind a cut. Basically, this is going to be me rambling about the shows that I like, and ensembles. The ones that work, the ones that don't; why they work and when they don't. Mainly, these shows are ensemble or focus on two characters.

Shows discussed ,even if only briefly: Andromeda, Babylon 5, Battlestar Galactica, Castle, Criminal Minds, Dark Angel, due South, Firefly, Jonathan Creek, Leverage, Numb3rs, Stargate SG-1 and Atlantis, Star Trek (all of them ;)), Torchwood, Xena

(note before hand - added now, because I have actually reread - and am paranoid, and don't want this meta/ramble to sound all knowing - it's all my opinion, and what works for me - I know a lot of things don't work for me, but work for other people and vice versa - I am reminded of that a lot when watching stuff with my family.
So, what I say under the cut? It's all my opinion, on what works for me - I may be wrong, you might disagree with me, and that's fine. I just wanted to put this out there. Feel free to throw things at me if you disagree.)

No I'm not dead ;) - I've not been around for a little while due to being ill (am now back to loving food - food is good *nods solemnly*) - and now I'm off to Scotland *whistles*

We're spending a week near Newton Stewart (which is close to Castle Douglas...) and [livejournal.com profile] charlies_dragon is coming with *yay* - am currently working on my tardis fic edits in the time I've got until her coach is due.

Once i'm back I still won't be too active for a little bit - Tardis fic will be done though so \o/ - I still have genderbend big bang to work on (which involves a lot more research...because I changed characters that I want to play with for it - it's still Torchwood related though - and Iona fic will be written including the epic!Iona.Tosh.Donna.Sarah Jane fic (why yes - i am insane).

I love writing Epic fics - I just don't love the editing quite so much - especially when I find something I mentioned then forgot that effects the whole plot *flails* - this is why the epic Carson/Daniel fic is still WIP, I went back to edit and review and discovered that the boys are rather horribly girly at points *winces*

ALSO LEVERAGE BIG BANG *points* signs up are open - for artists and writers - so if you're interested - run don't walk to [livejournal.com profile] thebigbangjob

*waves* I'll post random pictures of stones when I get back - promise (stone circles and chambered cairns and castles and....*does geeky dance*)

Am rather bored (no job yet *pouts*) - so have been reading an insane amount of both fan fiction (mostly Torchwood) and more books than I've read in a long while. *g*.

Have now read 'The Time Traveler's Wife' which is a really good book (was hooked by the first ten pages - and the first half is sooooo good - the second half is lightly less so, but still good *nods*) - and I can now say, Moffatt has read it *nods*, why do I say this? Well...*points at River* yeah - will have to go see film at the end of the year *nods*

Also - The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman *love* (Silas owns the world *nods*)

Otherwise, life in the house is more interesting at the moment as Tahnee is finally in season and in her third week. She's having a hard time of it poor girl, but she's also regularly getting fed up with how much Lakota fails, though in his defense he's only four months old, and she's taller than him......
But *yay* hopefully we'll get everything shorted and in six months time we'll have a pregnant Tahnee and then PUPPIES - but I may not be here *pouts*
(anyone want to see pics of how big the little boy has gotten? he hasn't lost his puppy markings yet - and may not - his eyes have settled now though - an odd shade of brown)

-

I seriously FAIL at writing thus far, I still have a long way to go on my Tardibigbang fic *winces* - but hopefully will get going again soon *crosses fingers* - it's my own fault mind, deciding on a plot line that requires research (on a subject that it damn hard to find books *mutters*)

I have also signed up to [livejournal.com profile] genderbendbb - but I think I'll do better on that one (thinking of doing Iona - over the other Torchwood genderbender am working on, as it doesn't require half the research, thankfully).

But yes - much writing to be done...

Have been very busy - today was my first day off since...the 8th
It's national Archaeology week this week - and I spent most of last week preparing the stuff for it - and since saturday doing the sessions with the kids (much of which I spent playing with glitter and clay *g*)
Tomorrow will be the middle day of my placement (25 days of work as a part of my degree programme) so only two and a half week to go.

No writing has been done *hangs head in shame* - but I shall be doing much in the coming weeks as I intend to get Hiding in Plain Sight done, along with the next two Stargate Pegasus episodes prior to getting my assignment for my first ever ficathon (am a little scared - but *fingers crossed* all will go well).

I have however been watching Star Trek The Next Generation (I brought season 4 and Generations the other week - and gave in today and ordered Seasons 5-7 and Insurrection - because I have a plot bunny and they're cheap at the mo) and my love for the show is stronger than ever.
It's sad though - watching it and realising just how much the Stargate writers have pulled from it *sighs*
Data is still my all time favourite Star trek character. *nods*

My results came today *finally* - and I am a little disappointed - but I passed so *shrugs* will just have to work really hard next year and make sure I get the 2:1 I need.

Anyhoo - once the work placement is done I will have two weeks before I head off with Da to visit Arran and the Mainland in order to get photos and visit sites for my dissertation. It looks to be an interesting trip.

Am back

After doing more of less five days in London - and this would be the first post of two for tonight (i'll post about Wolf Pegasus Two tomo - when i'm more awake...well, after lectures)

Fan Fiction Update - Am working on three mainly at the moment, a long Daniel/Carson fic, which is at an 'awkward' stage, the next Immortals fic (part five - eek) which needs some major editing/rewriting and the opening fic for [profile] sg_pegasus which is going to be very fun to write.

Have had very little sleep - the weasel and hard wood floors? not best friends when it comes to sleep - plus the knee was being pissy again. It really hates me so it does. lol. So, sorry if I sound crazy or make no sense - it's the lack of sleep talking!!

'Tis done

Have now offically done my four weeks - my first archaeological dig -lol - it was both fun and educational, with a fair amount of annoyance. I now know and understand just why it is that excavations are seen as last resorts. If it was all archaeologists did? There would be many retiring early due to nervous breakdowns me thinks. lol.
Also, thursday night? eight eps of stargate atlantis in a row. Now all i need to do is see the rest of season 1 again. lol. Have also now watched the majority of the last disk of season 9 of stargate. My brain is kinda doing a 'meh' dance, and i'm really not sure what it think about them. Will see when i watch over again.
The new wicker man (saw it wednesday) was interesting - very very american. Not as good as the original through, which, must be watched again.....
Will be writing now. But not so much today, as am still recovering (ish) from waking up to find strange people in the flat - who have in fact returned, so the freak has begun again. I don't like waking up to find weird people who i don't know in the house. Slightly less hate if i've been told before hand. But as it stands? Am trying to recover from the panic attack. Not good :S. But oh well....
anyhoo - that be the update, such as it is.
