So - PhD application was unsuccessful - not surprised, was a bit miffed by the feedback (I ended up poking them when hadn't heard by a week pre interview dates and requested feedback if I hadn't been successful) - was told I had no lithics experience? When I had specifically detailed my lithics experience in my app? So yeah, sure, that was great feedback. The second thing was 'you don't have enough experience' so it translates as 'we had one of the people already working on the finds in mind'.

Urgh. Those are always the worst feedbacks (went for another job - didn't get it - but it in my current job sphere so have met who got it...and they had already been covering it.....so yeah - you start to spot a certain element to feedback).

Am now eying my application for the Forensics MSc (I have to fill out a security clearance form o.O - because it's on the MoD campus). Need to speak to the two intended references, then will commit to it, because I really don't have anywhere to go currently, job wise. Sadly.

We might, possibly, move at some point in the future. Which is a strange vague comment - we've been looking at houses in scotland for ages, Da now has the job he'd been aiming for in Scotland, so might be moving. (It was a 'we will def be moving' but the house we all loved went under offer the day Da got offered said job, after six months on the market *face palms*)

I've been quiet because I've not had much to say - and I was working through the whole 'no paid PhD though I have no idea what I would have done afterwards' thing and I spent two days in the Lakes hunting for Herdwicks ( http://www.goherdwick.co.uk/ ) with the pup. I missed out on the Gromits and Shauns when their trails were happening, but the Herdwicks were actually local ish so yeah :)

Found 38/60 Herdwick Ewes, went past like, 12 because they were in non dog friendly locations. I have selfies of Athena and almost the Ewes we spotted. I've been working on a sketchbook with inserted pictures from the whole crazy quest as well.

Kitten update:
This tiny beastie

Is now a good amount bigger and fluffier

Sad news the last few days with Victoria Wood (my mother has sent me too many death notices in texts this year, seriously) and Prince. :( It's a shame and both will be missed.

I admit, Victoria Wood is the one I'll notice more, as she was one of the universally liked comedians in the family, so we have lots of random side refences to her in everyday convos (The Anne Widdecombe song and the alt version of brief encounter espec). So sad, and it's only April I really dread what the rest of the year will bring.

US TV seems to be a bit of a mess with ladies, which is frustrating and really disappointing, it's just sooo backwards - and I poked something and discovered that I somehow completely missed Adam Baldwin's involvement with gamergate *head desks* URGH :/

ON the other hand, I wait impatiently for the finale of Criminal Minds.... because yeah the one thing I still keep up on. And waiting for Librarians to come back, as it is campy fun.

We now have three kittens. The new little girl is a Maine Coon, ma settled on Lola as her name (yes, because of that song, and Kinky Boots). Will post pictures soon :)

Appointment went better, I think - have a scan and some injections and actual follow up will be occuring, so happier than this time last week.

Finally decided to go and see Batman v Superman, and enjoyed it (have to be honest, DC kinda wins on that one - cos they have done better with starting justice league stuffs than Marvel did with Avengers, and the messy X-Men stuff)

more behind here, spoilers )

And pictures of our little fluffy additions, Mr looks like a snow leopard Tobermoray, and his dark sister Ailsa.

Easter

I hope everyone who celebrates/gets holiday has had a good Easter.

I worked Good Friday and Saturday, and of course this was the weekend that we got worse leaks in the building (and torrential rain and high winds saturday and sunday :/) so that's going to be fun over the next week. We had roofers on Friday, who should have fixed the issue, but didn't.

I have started watching Person of Interest, and have started through season two of Daredevil (POI is drawing me more than DD atm but only a few eps into DD v into s2 of POI)

Amused by all the 'zomg it's terrible' stuff on the news about Storm Katie ('imagine if it had been a normal working today? how could we have coped' was the comment from a wide eyed 'expert' bloke on BBC news while me and da sat and eye rolled.) It's blown a lot of things around, taken out some trees and there has been snow, plus flight delays, but overall not too bad. (It's more amusing because when we had three weeks, of three storms, the south were all 'eh happens' but with some 'oh dear you flooded, shame' - but one night of one storm with relatively high winds and the south is all about how bad it was - ma and da drove back last night from essex, and somehow managed to miss most of it).

And today is kitten day! We are adding a little boy Bengal kitten to the house - it should make things more interesting - I shall post pictures when I have them :)
weaselett: (a - fred working)
Sorry I've not been around much - between work and puppies, I don't spend much time online. (Work 7.30-15.30 - with about 45min travel time either side - puppies get fed at 4 and 8, with time out at 10 - spend an hour out going crazy - we're down to three feeds a day now though (c7, c12, c7) so shouldn't be so crazy - but walking starts for the little one in a week, so.....yeah afternoons = busy)

Have today off (second vaccination day, so I figured, use flexi time I have and take a day to be lazy ;))
*smishes you all*

I have a tonne of writing to get done (my polybigbang fic? The pairing I seem to now be writing, ummmmm, I have no idea) - also Sign ups for arists for the Leverage Reverse Big Bang are now open at [livejournal.com profile] thebigbangjob ;)

And now for this week's tv reactions - well, castle and criminal minds (not sure how I feel re: once upon a time and grimm yet - still liking Terra Nova - and I need to catch up on Lost Girl)

Castle reactions, for this week and a little for last weeks )

-

Criminal Minds - episode six - a reaction in points )

We got a new book on siberians recently (the old one is ancient now - I was amazed when I found a toy that was advertised in it - even if it now looks completely differnt *g*) - it's very american - and very entertaining to go though, especially now we're veterans of siberians - they have us very well trained (well apart from Ma - who thinks that she should be able to have a nice garden AND three huskies o_O)

I've had these pics sat on my hardrive for a little while now (I know this because Puppy is not so puppy sized these days *g*)- so I figured I should share them ;)

Look at the cute little boy awwww - beware though - don't get too close - he stinks of poop *sighs dramatically* - book says 'huskies do not have a doggie odour', no they don't, lakota however, has a poop odour because he likes rolling in unmentionable stuff *head desk*

I had a really fun weekend *nods* even if I did get groped by Rex Buckland Neil Roberts, like pretty much everyone else *g*

It was lovely to get to see [livejournal.com profile] flubber2kool (who got kissed by BamBam ;)) and [livejournal.com profile] fififolle (yay! for you and your peeps winning the costume comp - your costumes were really good :D)
Also - nice to meet a tonne of new people including [livejournal.com profile] morbid_sparks and [livejournal.com profile] lovely_steph89 *hugs new friends* :D welcome to the crazy ;)

Much fun was had - though poor Kavan was still a little ill. Paul wore the kilt again *yay* - Chuck was still lovely (unsurprisingly *loves*) - Chris is really tall and BamBam was a lot of fun! Oh - and Neil was crazy *nods solemnly* anyone know if that petition for him to be the next doctor has appeared as requested?

I'll post some pictures tomo or friday - once I get a chance to get the pictures off my camera.

--

I got home late monday and got savaged by the mob - Lakota has also grown a full three inches in length - he's going to be a big boy by the time he's full grown! And ignored by the cats (as always - unless I'm bringing food or offering warmth *g*) - the fish are also still crazy *nods*

Am also presently considering whether or not to do [livejournal.com profile] tardis_bigbang - it'll be torchwood if I do - but we'll see.

My News!

This little fellow is my news :)

lakota - face on lakota - face on

He's the newest addition to the household and he's just eight weeks old. He's called Lakota and he is an evil cute little demon ;)

He's also occupying much of my time (me being the assigned babysitter)

Or at least I feel like it - one of the fish in the older tank died mysteriously in the night - so I am now getting paranoid that it was because of something I did - and keep going to check on the fish *eep*

It's annoying - I've done everything I'm meant to - but one died (one of my favourites! ma's siamese fighter *head desk*)

This is why I never want fish *nods*

--
*EDIT: well apparently it might not be my fault - my parents may have just been wrong about how stable the fish tank was - I did a nitrate test and ye gods - added some filter start - hopefully this means that no more of the fish will die on me (cos ma will just blame me - regardless *sighs*) *crosses fingers*

*coughs*
Am back home - have been since sunday evening now - it's a relief- even if it does mean being attacked by multiple animals at odd moments *g* the puppy is still insane and there is still a weird battle for dominance going on between the cats....and the new fish are....odd.

Anyhoo - am all excited about Doctor Who this weekend - especially with the upcoming return of CJH!!! *muffled squee*

I have one little question for you all - who would you cast as a mini-Daniel (Jackson - SG-1) ??
