Okay so if you haven't read this fic At the hour when we are trembling by frostfire - you are seriously missing something brilliant.

It's SGA/SG-1, it's an apocofic, it's long and it's NC-17 - but it's just sooooo good.

It has some funny moments and some really gut-wrenching moments - it also manages to keep both Daniel and John in character the whole way through - and it has definitely sold me on this pairing. It was one that before I was a bit cautious of (it so often just doesn't work), but this well written it is so clear and acceptable. (so much so that I'm kinda hoping there'll be more..*blushes*)

Really worth reading when you get time :D

Am taking a break from writing, as it is going nowhere fast *glares at fic* - through thankfully at least part of it is now officially done *phew* just a few more pages.....yeah. *head desk*

Anyhoo - am enjoying reading 'Sharpe's Escape' - I can't believe it's been so long since I last read one of these books *looks suitably ashamed* - my love for Harper however grows yet again :D
I love Richard, don't get me wrong - but Pat *hugs* he has got to be my favourite.
Yeah - I know the women in the Sharpe books are really well written - and all somehow manage to end up in a particular man's bed *coughs* - well not all of them, but the majority. But Harper is just *sighs* he's nice, he's a fighter, he has a sense of humour and he has some really funny quirks.
There are some really funny moments in this book - and most of it is Harper playing the dim irish man to the new stupid officer. *giggles*
I love harper *nods*

In other news - I am almost done reading 'sharpe's Gold' *is ashamed that haven't read it before* and am most certainly falling in love with Teresa/Richard once more
They were ok in the series - but god - in the books!! It's one of my all time favourite pairings and in the books there is just soooo much more to it.

Also - I loves Harper - so I does :D

People should read these books *nods*

A New AU

Well - due to the last few days of conversations myself and [personal profile] charlies_dragon have created a new AU, which also, due to its apparent length and possiblities, has its very own community [profile] sg_pegasus

It's an AU set in Atlantis, that breaks from canon just after 'The Game' , through 'The Ark' will remain pretty much the same there will be differences, Sunday, however, will be very different, and from then on, it will be a true AU. Also, it takes an AU approach to SG-1 season 10, from 'The Quest' onwards, but that story will be left open for now, as the main focus is on the SGA team.

Sharpe

Should have been re-reading Equilibrium so as to really get my teeth back into things (as i have a week of nothing - unless you count the revision i really should be doing) - but was more tempted by my Sharpe dvds - partly due to the fact the new one is on next week *squee!!!* and partly due to the fact it's just been wayyyy too long.
Unfortunately - it's just made me miss my books - there are only three or four of the sharpe books either me or da don't own - da also owns almost all of bernard cornwall's other books - wanna read company or enemy - right now - but i can't cos, they're miles away at home *sobs* - not fair. Also wanting to read Traflagar (this is where my spelling dies for no reason) for the grace bits. I have cried reading sharpe books - only two of them - and for damn good reason.
continuing behind the cut so as not to spoil those who haven't read the books.... )

Finally

Just a quick update - haven't been able to sign on for a little while *glares* but finally managed it now - *sigh* - nothing written, but inspiration has struck and am going to try really really hard to get the prologue finished this weekend - then move onto the first part......
Eight below is out soon!!! Wooo!! saw the trailer on wed when me and lisa went to the cinema - looks so good - the dogs are soooooo damn pretty - my tala and Nahani are just as pretty - *squee* - am going to see it - everybody should - share the huskey love!!! lol.
Also - Ice age 2!!! seeing it wednesday, so nobody who's seen it already spoil it = parents will porb do that anyway. lol.
But don't know if it can beat Were-rabbit - god i loved that film!! also - realised that there is a whole new layer to the comedy when you get all the PNE jokes - first three i didn't even know a lancastrian - now i live there, well when i'm not here....- the extras, *squee* every footballer named i know (in passing) even if it's just by the names of the streets the statiums are on. lol. yeah PNE and Blackpool both. lol.
The rabbits rocked. I want one of those rabbits *stares dreamily* but not as much as i want a Shawn. LOL. Anybody who hasn't seen the extras mini's should - really i mean it - and the one with shawn in? sooooo very true. i know soooo many people who i have watched doing that kinda thing. lol.
weaselett: (Faith)
just seen it - brilliant - very bloody and freaky - but brillaint - the girl playing hannah's a really really good actress - plus - first time seen Cillian murphy in anything - very nice - loved the accent.

Got an assignment to do....comparsions are always fun *head desk*

Bouncing

weaselett: (Sean!)
wildly around the room - Lady Grey's posted the sequel to the quiet one on her site!!! *SQUEE*!!! Call me weird but i like Tok'ra!Daniel.... i also like Goa'uld!Daniel, but not as much, cos it makes for much interesting emotional moments - *ducks head* it's not because i'm a danny whumping fan...honest!! LOL. No there are limits. There have been versions of both that i didn't like, cos it didn't sit well - there are two outstanding Tok'ra!Daniel fics - The Quiet one and Aislynn's fic (can't remember the title, oophs) - plus my other all time favourite with The quiet one, is the slightly different Conspiracy Series by Tiv'ester, the fourth part is a work in progress through... But there's only one good Goa'uld!Daniel fic, by Debbie Louise Gough, rivers run red with blood, which i've always thought weird - so few Goa'ulded daniel fics - hell so few Goaulded anyone fics. Even when the story lends itself to it, the writer finds a totally random way for it not to happen...not that it should ever be perminant - nobody ever explained how Machello's things have never been used...unless the whole, bad for normal people thing - dunno....
Anyhoo - now going to read 'passion' *squee* have been waiting for it....wonder if they'll be another Annule series soon....oooohhhhh.
lol - the assignment will be done....tomo-before me and james play on his new 360....lol

Brokeback

Brokeback mountain - saw it today - cried - and my friends who thought it was just gay porn where amazed and startled by how good it was. I am soooo going to buy it on DVD when it comes out - it'll be well worth it - that's for sure!!
It's better than any of the 'het' romanic comidies - and it's so much more real - it really is a love story, in it's truest sense. It's a truely brilliant film, and i hope people see it for what it is.

Confused

I honestly don't understand - but Charmed - the popular tv show that's in it's 8th season, has quite possibly the least number of fan fiction sites on the net. It's weird and kinda disappointing, i mean it's a good show, and has a firm canon base for peeps to work with, and yet it has no fan fiction base on the net, and most of the sites that i used to love that cover it, are gone or going. It's a fading thing, and it's sad.
Yeah, i've been ambling the net searching for some extra muse kicking for the connections fics, but without luck thus far. If i do it to be posted, i wanna do it well, but there's hardly anything for me to compare my ideas to. I'm getting the same feeling i got when i wrote Defining Destiny, I'm venturing into bearly explored turf again :S.
I love my AUs and crossovers, but whenever i get a muse idea and go looking for any other like ideas to help me find a footing, there doesn't seem to be much. With eternal realms, after i'd written Hidden truths, and brought and watched Highlander for the first time, i went ambling through the sites looking for stargate/highlander crosses to see if there were other immortal daniel's to read. I found five in total, plus a few immortal jacks, but a hell of a lot of what i found, the fics still aren't finished now. Three years on. It's scary. It's a more dire thing in the Defining Destiny field too, there are three other gender bent daniel's i've found, that have been written, Medie's brilliant Danielle, still going strong, and Lady Anne's just started 'reversal of fortune'. It's weird how fandom is.
Especailly when you think there are Harry potter crosses abounding, and enough jack/sam fics to drown russia with.
Anyhoo - am going back to my search - on fan fiction.net - as a last ditch attempt before i give in. At least with 'Inspried' there are plenty of other buffy/stargate crosses for me to judge how i should treat the universe for that fic! LOL

Back!

Dec. 29th, 2005 05:06 pm
weaselett: (Sean!)
After a long week away am back! Mam's ill, my uncle decided to be nice this year and give an xmas present.... luckily me and da are all right, so the drvie y-day wasnt so bad, despite the fact it was 7pm by the time we got back (we left southend at 12) much evil traffic on the M25 and M6. We got snow, both at grandmas and here, through they haven't had much here until today, it's been mostly ice. Everything looks nice and snowy white. Which down south was very nice cos it made all those ugly old flat blocks look better!!
Saw narnia xmas eve!! Am going to have to get the soundtrack, it was really good, and the film was great. Am going to get hold of the books and finally read them, but i'll finish the last Dark Angel book first - 2nd of the two that follow the end of the series. The first was really gud, but i couldn't get the 2nd until we were in Vancouver in the summer. The evilness of releases over the water but not here!!
Xmas presents wish i got Charmed season 1 (yayness, it's so weird wathcing the begining again after so long!! but it means Connections is on it's way soon!! through i'm determined that it be good.), the third book of the trilogy tht i got the first two of just before i went to uni, but waited to read cos it's always annoying when you end up waiting for the next book (ala the bone doll's twin, fingers crossed the third is out soon, which will be a major squee moment) Bridge of souls by fiona mcintosh, also got rob thomas' album, the early years of switchfoot cds and new favourite by alison krauss and union station. Also got the illustrated companion for serenity (SQUEE!!!! I wanted it so bad, now all i need is the film on DVD!!) which is brilliant! Also have 'Kingdom of heaven' and 'fantastic four' on DVD, a black sheep toy (it looks bemused all the time!), and a black top.
Quite a good load really.
Have also now seen the trailer for the 2nd PotC, which looks interesting, but it's not out till the summer (the whole gap between the trailers and the films is getting annoying!)
I saw all the southern family (actually got spoken to by one of them, was amazed, made a huge change to the norm!!) but no presents due to some agreement between the parentals. And no comment on the lack of a birthday present for either me or the brother this year from mum's bro. Despite the fact they were both BIG birthdays (18 and 21) only, 5 months till my bday again. Mam's is next week, am going to see just like heaven with her on wed, her present is wrapped and hidden in my 'empty' draws lol.
No writing done. Was expected to socialise and did. :P
weaselett: (healer)
On jackslashdaniel the livejournal community :D found interesting fics - including a short male preg drabble - which is scary for me, i mean, they have a wand thing for something when u're preg? *cowers pitfully, doing a good impression of a guy* Maybe i'll find away to avoid tht......
lol - am going to write some random Als/other immortals drabbles - historical ones - cos i feel the urge *head desk* - yeah - i feel like drabbling historically (before i go insane over everything discovered via Introduction to Arch)
Anyhoo - back to the exploration - before QI starts... (home soon!!! *squee*)

This is a major recommendation - it is such a good fic - seriously - anyone who like Stargate and buffy and doesn't mind corssovers - you should read it - it's one of the best crosover fics i have ever read - am very close to tears at the mo and had to drop this in my journal - i have never been so drawn to a pairing as i am right now - it's sooo good!!
It's on twisting the hellmouth - Oh for Cryin' out loud by Jesmin - go read!
