I seriously need some new icons - I have not changed/added new ones in....over a year? (I need a Clint icon, and a Melinda - also more trek and leverage and such...any recommendations welcome :))

The cold is starting to get better? Yay? (Have managed to not take any time off work, despite temptation) - I got snotty come saturday sadly, and my voice is still all evil and broken *sighs*

Fun PDR were boss said that sometimes she wasn't sure I like interacting with visitors (there are times I do not, but this is typically because the visitors are unpleasant - but people always struggle reading me? I'm not really neurotypical and people do seem to struggle with my tone of voice/facial expression sometimes, so yeah :/).

After poking Age of Ultron seems to be another 'they are going with random bits of Ultimates verse' - so some of my 'but what' stem from me never really being interested in Ultimates. Possibly? IDK - I am intending to get my hands on the rest of Fraction's Hawkeye, because it's awesome.

Leaning towards a re-view friday and taking parentals - mother queried whether it would be better in 3D (despite neither of us liking 3D) and not sure it would add anything? Maybe to the battle sequences? Tis weird though, as looking at screenings, that are more 2D than 3D - is 3D dying off again?

Weather is being weird here - driving in hail storms is fun. (Bonus we don't get massive hail stones, so it's not as much a hazard as in other places).

There is stuff I should do (Leverageland birthday stuffs - and challenges - tomorrow, I promise!) however, time is being mean (aka I watched a film with parents instead of doing stuffs. It's their fault). Leverage Big Bang stuff has been done though - claiming goes live tomo (in my typical evil style - I expect pokes from writers - blind claims are tense, but better than people knowing that they haven't been claimed straight away/staring at the comments waiting to be claimed).

I will be doing my best to be around and present online more from now on (trip south has been done - there may be another later in the year - but that's tbd) - work is a little manic atm as we are down a staff member (we have a tiny permanent staff - of four - so it notices - but so much less stress than old place zomg).
People were making stained glass in the back room today, so much dramatic noise (I am going to try and sneak in next week to see said stain glass...as am intrigued).

I hope you're all well - and if not - I hope it gets better *smishes*

So, my super secret project for Con 1 has actually now been started (like, two people, other then my parents know what said project is - I am thankful for this, as it means there's less people to notice I failed....if I do ;)) It's rather crazy, but we'll see how it turns out.

I leave work, get on a train with all my stuff and get to Birmingham thursday - then I head home again monday morning, and back to work tuesday. If anyone is going, and wants to meet up (who isn't already staying with me ;)) I'm in the hotel for friday and saturday night, so I'll be around pretty much the whole time - and am doing the meet and greet friday (GOLD ticket - I couldn't not ;))

I have to decide which job to apply for at work (well not at work, but with work) - I'm qualified for both, but they're at the same place, and different pay grades, and I don't know if I would actually be given a proper management job (though the boy is like 'you have a MASTERS, that gets most people management jobs, even if it's not in a relevant degree' - thing is, with the way they seem to work internal jobs at work, I don't think that would work and ARGH) *breathes*

Will be deciding either way by end of day monday, so will see.

The writer's sign ups for the reverse big bang are open at [livejournal.com profile] thebigbangjob :D - tis all exciting.

*hugs you all* Hope everything is good.

Sorry I've not been around much - between work and puppies, I don't spend much time online. (Work 7.30-15.30 - with about 45min travel time either side - puppies get fed at 4 and 8, with time out at 10 - spend an hour out going crazy - we're down to three feeds a day now though (c7, c12, c7) so shouldn't be so crazy - but walking starts for the little one in a week, so.....yeah afternoons = busy)

Have today off (second vaccination day, so I figured, use flexi time I have and take a day to be lazy ;))
*smishes you all*

I have a tonne of writing to get done (my polybigbang fic? The pairing I seem to now be writing, ummmmm, I have no idea) - also Sign ups for arists for the Leverage Reverse Big Bang are now open at [livejournal.com profile] thebigbangjob ;)

And now for this week's tv reactions - well, castle and criminal minds (not sure how I feel re: once upon a time and grimm yet - still liking Terra Nova - and I need to catch up on Lost Girl)

Castle reactions, for this week and a little for last weeks )

-

Criminal Minds - episode six - a reaction in points )

So work is still occurring (I have a contract, as a paid member of staff, till december at present, so you know, it'll still be occurring for a little while ;)) - getting used to what I'm doing now (I changed areas, and overseers). But it's nice, getting up and going somewhere every day, even if I get a little o.O from all the human contact.

Profiling class - week one was interesting. I'm kinda amused by the fact that the two main references, are two of the books I got out the library (Holmes and Holmes for american - David Canter for British). It's getting it in my head, because reading the books I was like 'am I understanding this right?' and I've not done so bad. Other people in the class aren't bad (two who may get on my nerves a little - one of whom, considering her reasons for doing it, makes me want to head desk a bit).

Stuff learned:

Profiling = semi educated guessing.

Top down - profiling as done by the FBI in real life - where they base it off what they've learned from real life caught criminals - we had a mini discussion of the pros and cons of it. (Personal bias is a big part of it - it's meant to be objective, but because the interviewer goes in with an opinion, and uses their opinion with what they learned from the interview, it's actually more subjective).

Bottom up - profiling as done by David Canter aka the british way. This is where you work from everyone up to your suspect - working through stuff i.e. who would have a tow rope in their car? - taking anything that's at the scene and working out what type of person would have or do those things.

We did more on the US top down, next week we'll be doing the uk version ;) - we spent most of the time coming up with our victim (murder - unsurprisingly - and teacher was gleeful because we came up with points that make sense, unlike the random stuff he's had before). We're profiling our killer as we go. (You need a LOT of information to get a profile working. Not DNA and such, but other things that seem small, but aren't. Our bullet points of the crime actually raised more 'questions we need to know the answer to' then it produced 'things we know from this'. It's interesting to me, after writing case fic, and still working on coming up with more, because it's pretty much what I've been doing. I don't go in with the unsub in my head, I go in with the victim and crime in my head. I'm discovering the unsub along with the CM team - yeah, it's a weird ass way to write ;))

It;s made me want to watch Cracker even more as well (British show, from the 1990s about a profiler) - but it's getting hold of it. I may end up buying it....

-

Shows this week - still need to watch Lost Girl and Haven - have watched Castle and Criminal Minds, and half of Terra Nova.

Castle is still working better for me than Criminal Minds (it's interesting, cos they both started from a similar stand point, from the situations of the last season, but I think Castle is working it more fluidly, it still feels like Castle. Criminal Minds, I'm kinda, well, this is the cue for an lj cut ;))

spoilers lie beneath for Criminal Minds, 7x02 )

IN other news - I shall be away from LJ for three days - as it is Vampire Ball 2 weekend. No Eliza, sadly though :/ - still it should be fun and it'll be nice to see the lovely [livejournal.com profile] badfalcon in person again after a good while ;)

Hope you all have a good weekend :)

Have been very busy - today was my first day off since...the 8th
It's national Archaeology week this week - and I spent most of last week preparing the stuff for it - and since saturday doing the sessions with the kids (much of which I spent playing with glitter and clay *g*)
Tomorrow will be the middle day of my placement (25 days of work as a part of my degree programme) so only two and a half week to go.

No writing has been done *hangs head in shame* - but I shall be doing much in the coming weeks as I intend to get Hiding in Plain Sight done, along with the next two Stargate Pegasus episodes prior to getting my assignment for my first ever ficathon (am a little scared - but *fingers crossed* all will go well).

I have however been watching Star Trek The Next Generation (I brought season 4 and Generations the other week - and gave in today and ordered Seasons 5-7 and Insurrection - because I have a plot bunny and they're cheap at the mo) and my love for the show is stronger than ever.
It's sad though - watching it and realising just how much the Stargate writers have pulled from it *sighs*
Data is still my all time favourite Star trek character. *nods*

My results came today *finally* - and I am a little disappointed - but I passed so *shrugs* will just have to work really hard next year and make sure I get the 2:1 I need.

Anyhoo - once the work placement is done I will have two weeks before I head off with Da to visit Arran and the Mainland in order to get photos and visit sites for my dissertation. It looks to be an interesting trip.

am battling my way through writing my present fic - against the awkwardness - which under other circumstances would be bad, but in these particular circumstances its not, because at the present stage in the fic, its all about awkwardness and regrets, which makes it damn difficult to write, but at the same time, i think it'll be worth it in the end, once i've gotten to the where its going, which is a very good place. lol.
am also battling my way through my latest assignment - which in all honesty - seems to be getting harder instead of easier :S - this would be why i don't like doing group work the way we've been asked to do it. Luckily it's almost over!!
Also - less than a week until the A Dog's Breakfast screening!! SQUEE!! And then - the con. *bounces*
Now - back to work.

yay

Presentation is done!!! woohoo....don't know what i got - but it's done - thank god. lol. But - still have, ummmm, harris matrix and 1500 word essay on early anglo-saxon burials to do, by, umm, 9am monday..... not so bad, well it wouldn't be if the muses would just leave me the hell alone *pout*
TTTB is getting done, little by little, finally, but keep wanting to do Inspired, which now has a plot outline, that goes beyond, i want this to happen, don't care how, lol, and Hope and Destiny - which is going to be a *b***h* to write i can tell you. Grrrr. Muses aren't bad - they're just a problem when it comes to asignment deadlines, and extra reading.....
I get to put Prittlewell in my essay!!! Wooo - yes, i'm sad, don't care :P - i also got to talk about daniel and mcguyver in a serious archaeology presentation :P *lol*
