lol. The Knights tournament was really really good. Even if they do 'safe' jousting, lol. Me, want to see mindless violence? nooo. lol. The knights and squires where all really good, i have lots of pics - the jousting ones aren't so good, but mainly due to the speed the guys travel at. Blink and you miss it. lol. Am determined to see next years tournament, espec as with the da moving up to Newcastle for work now. The final's held up there every year...through this was only the second year of the tournament...lol. But it was good, through felt sorry for the squires with the archery - it was windy enough that their targets kept blowing over! Also, during the foot 'battles', you could hear everything - and i mean everything - one of them had his knuckles broken - there was also much swearing, lol - Overall the east won, and the eastern squire has is going to have a pretty scar where one of the others got him in the face with a glaive, poor soul.
Personally, i'm delighted, cos, i was supporting the east (being born there and all) lol.
One other thing i found out - i don't like scarborough - the castle's nice - but the sea front? nope. To be avoided at all costs. We also stopped to look at Anne Bronte's grave - but it's a bit sad - they're using the grave yard as a car park now, so, all the other grave markers have just been dumped against the walls, and they're really not in good repair. Her grave was about the only one that hadn't been messed with. *sighs* Tis sad.
Leeds, is nicer than people make it out to be, or at least the part out by the station and the armory is, which is where we went friday. The armory it's self is interesting, it's split into sections: tournament, war, oriental, hunting, and self-defence - a lot of it's really good, but there are some bits that are a bit, well, honestly, boring. Or just damn confusing. But, yeah, it was a good day out. We got to see some Falconry (as we did again the next day at scarborough castle) and a demo of some oriental fighting. Tis entertaining how we english speaking people have such limited names for things, whereas most oriental cultures have tonnes more. lol.
But, yup, had a good few days.
