OK - so we didn't go to the friday night party...or any of the parties - we wanted to but we had to get back to our respective places of residence for the weekend. (in my case that was a 1hour and a half train trip, forcharlies_dragon and teapot_women it was 2hours) - but we were in all of the Q&As both days, and all i can say is SQUEE!!
This was my first convention (silly, considering home is so close to Blackpool - but I never actually KNEW that there were cons in Blackpool *head desk*) so it was a whole new experience and I learned a lot.
The guests in attendance were - Chuck Campbell, Erin Chambers, Aaron Douglas, David Hewlett, Kate Hewlett, Ivy Isenberg, David Nykl, Dan Payne and Ryan Robbins, plus two of the stargate novel authors, Sally Malcolm and James Swallow - and everyone of them rocked. *grins*
Saturday was a bit of an overload - due to it being my first ever convention - but it was great all the same and I had a tonne of fun - brought a few things, but I only had a tiny budget really, due to being a student and all. I got as many pictures as i could - but my camera is truely evil (and Ryan Robbins kept pacing - damn him - lol - not really - i think had it been me in his place - i would have been pacing too) and focused on the wrong thing or blurred things *rolls eyes* - but i have some good pictures at least.
They were all soooo good and funny - my favourite moment had to be Dan Payne running in to pick up little Ryan Robbins during his Q&A - it was soooo funny and sweet - it's so nice to see how well they all interact - the two Davids especially! - and the stories were all soooo good, and the questions were even more entertaining for the most part - you could so tell what path each person follows in fandom (none of us asked questions - too shy/nervous/in the middle of a row) - *giggles* there were some awkward moments when you really felt for the actors, but, they took it in their stride.
Erin was so cute - and i loved the ideas she was coming up with over the weekend about what happened to Sora (it was also interesting to hear that she's as in the dark as us about poor sora's fate - she didn't even know about the cut scene from Siege...) - and her singing on Sunday?? The girl has a beautiful voice I can tell you. Her Husband, Carson, was also really sweet!
On sunday....oooooo - Kate and David Hewlett had a joint Q&A first thing - *giggles* - poor Kate was out till 5am and David didn't half rib her for it - sooooo funny! Also - i loved the video they played before they came on (out of all the videos they played - that was the best). It was soo nice to watch their interaction an listen to some of the stories and hear their views on some of the stuff. David really is a sweetheart.
David Nykl and Chuck Campbell were on together on sunday as well - and they were funny (and so sweet) - all I'm going to think when I see chuck from now on through, is orange.....lol. David, of course, had all of the Hewlett related interruptions all weekend- and it was sooooo funny.
Ryan wound up having his feet taped to the floor to stop him pacing - not that it worked for very long - but he was great - Dan payne and the jokes about his height and intelligence (the sweetest guy really - a teddy bear) lol - he was given a banana on sunday....need I say anymore - ooooo - and he took his top off - many very happy girls in that room i can tell you - lol.
Aaron Douglas was great (he could wander around more or less freely as well - lucky guy) and he was sooo lovely too.
The screen comments where great - especially the passwords for the characters (to let each guest through the gate)
There was a tonne more that happened - but there's only so much i can put into this post!!! - if you wanna know more? My advise is to go along to the next convention you get a chance to and just experience it. (i may post more - but god there's just soooo much)
I wound up with the signatures of everyone (two from Erin and David Hewlett) plus Jane (who is the sweetest - so nice!) - but i felt sorry for them all - especially poor David, who wound up sighing till long into the evening, but was still so nice.
But yes - conventions = lots of fun!!!
