*sob* just got slagged off by james - apparently fan fiction isn't anything to use as a way to practise writing - cos 'it's' totally wrong. Not happy wez - cos i don't have a clue where he's coming from - well, no actually i have a feeling i do - it's the same as what had been said before by nic - that with fan fiction you don't 'expect' to be writing for someone who has never stepped a foot in the fandom. Which is true for some people, and does depend on what you're writing - which, i'll admit for a lot of my stuff that's is the way it's done. But i don't understand why it can't be used as a practise? Anyone wanna drop a hint for me? It'd be nice to know why fan fiction is never put in the same place as novel writing (i mean as in, everyone treats it like some kind of evil demon thing) where as what James does - roleplay universe stuff - is classed as actual novels? What's the difference? Both are in existing 'scences', and written from, what's gone before. Sorry :$ - i'm just annoyed cos i feel like i've just been insulted really badly. Especially as James said editors change almost everything people write and that's why you can't do it yourself - despite, self publishers...... going to go bury self in reading - espec seen as after that there is no chance i'm going to get anything done tonight on HaD. ARGH!!!! will ask for an explanation tomorrow. And, will listen......provided he doesn't continue in his trend of berating what i do.
