THIS (as a warning there are spoilers for Torchwood Children of earth.)

That just makes me giggle because of how INSANE it is.

RTD just seriously told people who didn't like COE to go watch SUPERNATURAL. *falls over giggling again* AND he tells other people off for not doing their research?

Or is he being that much of an arse and comparing people who didn't like COE to SPN fandom (not as a whole - I know some lovely people in SPN fandom - I just also know about the HUGE scary bit of SPN fandom *shudders*)

Yes - I will agree the SPN boys (BOY damnit *ducks*) are pretty. But people, DON'T DO IT - unless it's for more reason than that - AND - don't go to the dark side of SPN fandom.

So basically - he thinks that if we don't like 'dramtic' deaths that make people stay dead - we should go to DPN cos the boys have now both died and been brought back.

Also - if you can't take Ianto's death you can't take drama so you should go elsewhere.

o_O

So death=drama then? *is miffed*

I adore Amber's death in House - yes - it was a death - but it wasn't the death that I adored it for - it was the rift in the House/Wilson relationship - the way it drove House to a point (and cuddy too) - it was the emotion of it.

Ditto Sam's return at the end of s2 of SPN - the emotion in it from Dean is a killer.

We got very little of either in COE following Ianto's death - as I've said before - there was no resolution - no real emotional confirmation of it (there was a TINY bit - but so tiny that you could have missed it if you looked away for a moment).

There's also the difference that RTD doesn't consider in his statement. Torchwood is Sci-fi - yes the BBC list it as a drama - but they list Being Human and Doctor Who as dramas too - they don't have a separate listing for sci-fi.

In House people die and stay dead - because it is a drama set in 'the real world' - everything that happens has the same kind of consequences as you'd expect in reality.

Torchwood on the other hand - is sci-fi - we can ignore it in sci-fi when the normal consequences of actions, or what would be normal in the 'real world', don't hold true. Sci-fi drama is very different than drama drama - if you get what I mean.

That's how SPN can remain so awesome without making their characters stay dead (well - dean and sam - everyone else has pretty much stayed dead) - there's a clear plan in place as well and it is generally felt that the next time Sam or Dean die it should be for good.

RTD also seems to completely ignore his previous actions, both as a decision maker on TW and as a writer on DW. Rose is a huge example, then Owen (to the point it makes me wish that Ianto had been given that storyline).

I HATE when people contradict themselves. I also HATE it when writers that a stab at their audience (I have issues with Stephenie Meyer - I also have issues with the bunch of children's author's over here who are refusing to sign disclosures which are meant to protect children, because they're basically saying there should be one rule for them and one for everyone else).

In that interview - RTD has done both. he may also have shot himself hugely in the foot - as some people who previously stood by him now seem to be having a change of heart, based solely on that interview.

Also - [livejournal.com profile] flubber2kool I think that answers previous question regarding a possible return.

But yes - RTD goes on the Black List officially. And it was such a short list *sigh*

ALSO THIS OWNS THE INTERNET

EDIT the second - because I should have linked to these the first time damnit
These two charity justgiving sites were started post COE - they are both raising money for very admirable causes:
Ianto Jones Wants a Pony
Children in Need
