Yeah, it's me again

Am working on crafty stuff and on my
genderbendbb fic (which as it's a tw fic is taking some amount of effort to actually want to write *sigh* - remind me - next time I'm doing a big bang and new!canon comes along while i'm still writing - I am not to watch until writing is done)
But - I came across this on youtube and thought I should share
Someone has posted the bit of the declassified that covers Ianto's death on youtube here - warning, it made me cry, with the video and everything, but might just be me...plus *hugs GDL hard*
RTD in the interview says that they couldn't have a threat this big to the Earth and not kill on of the characters....
There have been bigger threats to the Earth in his recent Doctor Who episodes and he hasn't killed any characters.
Also - he says a lot about good drama and yeah - it was well written and fairly good drama - but you don't need death to make it real. *sighs* Also - Eve Myles calls it a 'heroic death', I'm sorry love, but it wasn't , if he'd been alone maybe, but he wasn't, he was with Jack and it didn't actually save anyone or anything.
I would have been happier watching something that had 'good drama' that didn't involve a death. Hell, people I've known have died, but the worst thing so far, in my life, was the two years that we spent in dread of my dad losing BOTH of his hands(for a reason, that BTW was pointless and never should have been an issue). Thankfully he didn't, but the point remains - drama of the manner that RTD got from Ianto's death can be made in other ways.
/end rant
Edit: End Note - this rant above has been coming since Season 3 of Stargate Atlantis aired - at which point I got fed up with my favourite characters dying to make 'good drama' and it being kinda pants*
(SGA still owns the rights to being the worst killings of the lot though - along with the worst 'hey look still alive' plots in the following seasons - because they did it with both of my favourite characters (and killed my!slash *sniffs*) - whereas Tosh's death was actually good even if Ianto's wasn't.)
*My one comfort in all of this is that Ianto didn't die due to a plot!tumor - even if his death was less heroic and closure was seriously lacking - ok it's a very small comfort but still.
