Everything's behind the cut, due to much spoilers for all of the season four.

OK - so I LOVED 'Turn Left' episode 11. It had it's issues - but I loved it anyway and it made me really want to see the next ep. Unfortunately I was greatly disappointed.

Everything I'm going to say is completely my own opinion and I don't want to offend anyone - but I wanted to do a reactiony post.

'The Stolen Earth' - Ep 12 - last weeks ep - it was good, not brilliant, but good.
I loved Ianto's snide comments - Wilf as ever rocks - Donna=awesome
It also made me very scared for what could be coming.

Part of it was that there were too many people (don't get me wrong - I love all of them *huggles Luke* - but it was just A LOT). The other part was that again, RTD brought in things that could have been AMAZING - but failed to use them to the extent he should have. There were also more plot holes then I could safely navigate - which then breed in the time between last week and this week.

I HATED - absolutely LOATHED that Doctor/Rose street run scene. Just *winces*.

I couldn't believe that Jack just walked out on Ianto and Gwen - and half of the character development he's had on Torchwood vanished once he the Doctor came in. *sighs* And Rose moaning about Martha was WAY TOO MUCH. Also - as far as she knew - JACK DIED/was stuck in the future. *sighs*

But I could have lived with all of that - I even had a little idea that made it all ROCK - even though I knew that it wasn't likely to happen. I held on to that hope.

HOWEVER - Journey's End - ep 13 - changed all of that. I am not a happy fangirl.

one: The doctor has NEVER cheated out of regeneration before - if he even actually regenerated in the end - that was made a bit hazy. As soon as the regeneration started at the end of last week's ep I was dreading what was to come. The likelihood that they would be willing to replace DT so soon was very very slim.

I would have been happy if he'd regenerated but the second out of time had given them a window out. I would have been happy if they'd found a way to stop the regeneration. But what they did was just *growls* - no.

second: DONNA - what they did to Donna?? my favourite companion of the four new who series - was just WRONG. Just *flails*. To have her come into her own like that - to see all that development then have it all just erased *growls* - Donna grew and found confidence in herself then they took it all away. The woman the Doctor left behind? isn't Donna. she's just a shadow of what Donna could have been. and for that I'm not going to forgive RTD. EVER.

third: ROSE - in 'Turn Left' we were shown a Rose that had matured and didn't need the doctor. she was searching for him because she needed to warn him. In journey's end however all of that was slapped in the face. everything she did was just to get back to him. and the end *winces* - that was just *reaches for sick bag*.

I liked the end of Doomsday - the emotion in it. But now that doesn't really mean anything. Rose has her own doctor who'll grow old and die with her and every other companion will always therefore be lesser. not to us - BUT - she's the one who has him as completely as is possible. her very own doctor. He's never going to leave her and keep on living.

fourth: too many faults in the storyline to count and the general awfulness of it all (has RTD not read the evil overlord list?!? seriously.) EDIT - most disappointing being the waste of the whole BAD Wolf thing - plus the lack of shadow proc people appearing to yell at the doctor and the forgetting of the 'one second out of time' thing that was oh so important last ep *sigh* but that's all typical RTD.

There were a number of small things that I loved in the episode - but otherwise - nope. I DID almost cry at the end - but that was because of Catherine Tate's acting and KNOWING what was about to happen. RTD has been borrowing from too many others places.

*sighs* I think what also didn't help is that the awareness that the whole of Earth should now have that they somehow don't. Two of the finales (they retconned last year's after all) involved world wide events that people could not have denied. They never had to do that in old who. they shouldn't have needed to do it now.

I loved Parting of ways. which *gasp* didn't involve the whole world being in danger and knowing it. THAT was a good finale.

I also now want a new doctor. I also want him not to have lost a regeneration to become himself again. If he has I will have to go on a RTD hunt - though I have to say, it will be a struggle, should I ever meet RTD, to not slap him. everything he's done before this was bearable. this however was BAD FIC. seriously. there is BAD FIC out there BETTER than that episode. *backs away*

I still love wilf, Donna's gramps though. He would make a good companion. Though actually, if that happens, please be after RTD leaves.

I never want any suggestion of a Doctor pairing again - EVER - after this Rose thing. I LIKED Rose before this episode. Still do, if I don't think about it.

where did they drop off Martha, Jack, Sarah Jane and Mickey? London is just a little way from Cardiff you know. *sigh* Also - sending the others off without a goodbye scene with Donna, or them even CONSIDERING the effect what has just happened might have on her?!? *head desk*

Martha - the bombs - etc - that's just *cries* - me and mum muttered over da snoring (the parents got back this afternoon from canada and da hadn't slept so it wasn't entirely the ep that sent him to sleep - holding his coffee cup...) because that was a seriously BAD thing. and insane. Like any country on earth would be willing to do that?? and if they were - it so wouldn't have anything to do with the suffering of the human race - it would be the risk of intelligence being leaked, not that under those circumstances that would be a concern OR it would be a way of taking out the enemy - ala every other damn show when they think they're going to die it's always followed by a 'well if I'm dying, I'm sure as hell taking you bastards with me'.

at least we finally got a comment about gwyneth/gwen even if it was loose and silly. EDIT: and cheat as it was - it was nice that tosh saved ianto and gwen *misses tosh*

also - while they killed more people fairly casually (the population of the world in DW has got to have dropped by at least 10% over the course of these last few series - even with last years finale being reconned) - they dealt with the fact that everyone of the doctor's companions (but donna as it turns out) are a bit ready to kill people. and that he has an issue with it. there were also some nice little nods to other episodes and Caan still rocked for his small moment. poor jackie, still mistreated by the doctor. also loved the Mickey Jack scene *nods*.

*coughs* OK - the rant is done. Sorry - I just had to get that out of my system - oh and there may very well be fic coming. As I told [livejournal.com profile] charlies_dragon last week in the event that the idea I had last week didn't occur I would be doing an AU shot of these eps. Or at least seriously considering doing one. It'll take a bit of researching and a good amount of time though. It will however help me to accept the episode.

Other observations:

Torchwood - we'll be having Mickey and Martha - that was made CRYSTAL CLEAR. *sighs*. I want new characters. I love Mickey I do, but Torchwood really should have been stand alone this whole time. It's a spin-off, not part of the same series.

Sarah Jane Adventures - was left relatively untouched - thankfully - it remains standing on it's own two feet. And it looks like we might have K-9. *glee*
