Ok - so behind the cut lies my thoughts and feelings about the end of SGA season 3 and the last episodes of SG-1
OK - so I know there are a lot of people that disagree with me about what I'm going to say - but I can't really help that.
First Strike - OHMYGOD - I whimpered - lots - absolutely no mention of Carson at all through two whole episodes, despite the fact that one of them SHOULD have at least referred to him, then, at the beginning of this one,he's mentioned - BUT by his replacement *ARGH* did they learn nothing from the reaction to Jonas (who I don't hate - but I have a plot hole problem with)? They should have mentioned him sooner but it was nice to get a mention of him, it just wasn't the kinda mention he deserved *sighs*
Following 'Sunday' and hearing about Elizabeth's fate, I had hoped that she at least would get a better plot point - but no - this episode had even more plot holes - which drives me INSANE - every time they do something like this it has sooo many plot holes and it just screams at me. If you're going to kill/get rid of a main character DO IT WELL. DON'T have plot holes - or at least, if you do, make then SMALL. *sighs*
I honestly don't think I'll watch all that much of Season 4. If this episode had been better - yes - but as it stands - it's very doubtful.
Bad Guys - Talion - Family Ties - ummmm - do I have to comment???
Like S3 of Atlantis, after The shroud s10 seems to have lost it's plot arc - it's also horribly anti-climatic. Like a lot of SG-1 and SGA these days. You gets tonnes of pretty explosions but in the end all that's pretty meaningless.
It's disturbing that the writers actually wrote Bad Guys and Family Ties - cos - you know - they really have NOTHING to do with the arc, or with everything else that's been going on. Family Ties - was the WORST ever SG-1 ep. It was utterly and completely pointless and soooooo mindnumbingly boring. And comeon - I know it's meant to be funny, but T's been on earth for long enough to know that anything called 'the vagina monologues' ain't going to be his cup of tea. *sighs*
Daniel remains the new Jack of the team - showing a few short glimpses of the Daniel I know and love, but more due to Michael's acting than the actual lines. *head desk* Also - some mention of how he's dealing after the whole 'i'm a prior thing' woulda been nice.
More suicidial alien moments (this time Teal'c *head desk*) Talion was the best of the three - but it was still kinda dire. They could have done a hell of a lot better.
Dominion - oooooo, look they found that arc again *head desk* - this was disappointing - there was potential, but it was missed. ooooo look Ba'al is in Adria - ooooo look the Tok'ra (what Anise and Garshaw are both dead?? what about the other random Tok'ra we've met before?? All dead??? Damn) but ooooo dear they failed, Adria's gonna die - but wait, no, she's awake *gasp* and she's ascended after trying to kill Daniel to distract everyone *gasp* - *head desk*
yeah - Ba'al is still going to be in one of the films *oh god* - despite the fact that all he seems to do these days is die, but hey - that was another clone *sighs* - there's infinite Ba'als - no boys, this doesn't beat having him die-but-not over and again ala apophis and anubis, this is somehow even more annoying. Hell it's almost more annoying than the obsession with ascension.
I still love Morena - but Adria - i never liked - she had the potential - then she just got really really annoyingly 2 dimensional. *sighs*
And finally - UNENDING......
the finale - the last ever stargate sg-1 - so much hope so much expectation. Such a waste.
Firstly - Teal'c's hair?? WTF??? so random and somewhat disturbing.....
secondly - the aging makeup - they've done better - MUCH better - Mitchell barely aged then suddenly he looks older than Daniel?? Meh? also - they coulda made a little more effort, gravelly voices for the 90+ year olds (sam was scarily agile for a 94ish year old), a little more hunched - less 'tan' as if you haven't seen sunlight in 50 years, it's gonna make you pale, and old people are pale anyhoo - also at least one of the boys shoulda lost his hair. Both should have had finer hair at least - if not a receeded hairline (you'd think they'd have made more of an effort, it being the last EVER episode)
thirdly - I don't love the vala/daniel pairing (but I've considered writing it and I've read it) - but if you go and make it canon like that? Don't do it that way - please - please - PLEASE. *sighs* That was not Daniel. It was a weird mix between MS and Jack. *sighs* also - instead of hinting at it with that scene of Vala crying in Daniel's arms, explain/mention in a passing comment why they haven't had kids. Cos I doubt they asked sam to expend power to create condoms or birth control for them.
*head desk* also - another 'ship coulda been thrown in (can't decide if they meant to hint at Cam/T or not *g* - I think they meant the S/T one through...)
There were some nice touches - sam's cello - Daniel and the ausgart knowledge - landry's plants - cam going nuts (through the others should have been more bothered that they couldn't get out)
but again - the end threw it out - it seemed off as a ending for that episode - it kinda deserved a Cam stopping by to remind Teal'c about the mission the next day and a closing shot of Teal'c kel'no'reeming with a touch of smile on his lips.
And the thing that bothered me the MOST - the ausgart - WHY??? - damnit!!! - why???
WTF is it with all of our allies dying or screwing up?? We now have NONE
The jaffa are too divided to ever help us - the Tok'ra are barely around, but apparently at some unknown point they started talking to us again - the asgart are now DEAD - and the Ancient couldn't give a s**t - oh yeah, and all those others allies, the less advanced ones, are all gone due to the ori (and we know this only because of idle comments at the ends of episodes - and even then only if we bother to play match the designation)
Basically - I was VERY disappointed. and I had expected better. And again - I don't know if I'll bother with the Films. Am definitely not going to go out of my way to see the second one. Ark of truth i may make the effort to hunt down. but it all depends. Espec as I'm in Britain and all.
*sighs* Now all I can do is wait patiently (ish) for Doctor Who to start -AND of course House season 3 - *squee* - and hope they remain as good as they have been.
