September days
Sep. 13th, 2016 02:08 pmSo - PhD application was unsuccessful - not surprised, was a bit miffed by the feedback (I ended up poking them when hadn't heard by a week pre interview dates and requested feedback if I hadn't been successful) - was told I had no lithics experience? When I had specifically detailed my lithics experience in my app? So yeah, sure, that was great feedback. The second thing was 'you don't have enough experience' so it translates as 'we had one of the people already working on the finds in mind'.
Urgh. Those are always the worst feedbacks (went for another job - didn't get it - but it in my current job sphere so have met who got it...and they had already been covering it.....so yeah - you start to spot a certain element to feedback).
Am now eying my application for the Forensics MSc (I have to fill out a security clearance form o.O - because it's on the MoD campus). Need to speak to the two intended references, then will commit to it, because I really don't have anywhere to go currently, job wise. Sadly.
We might, possibly, move at some point in the future. Which is a strange vague comment - we've been looking at houses in scotland for ages, Da now has the job he'd been aiming for in Scotland, so might be moving. (It was a 'we will def be moving' but the house we all loved went under offer the day Da got offered said job, after six months on the market *face palms*)
I've been quiet because I've not had much to say - and I was working through the whole 'no paid PhD though I have no idea what I would have done afterwards' thing and I spent two days in the Lakes hunting for Herdwicks ( http://www.goherdwick.co.uk/ ) with the pup. I missed out on the Gromits and Shauns when their trails were happening, but the Herdwicks were actually local ish so yeah :)

Found 38/60 Herdwick Ewes, went past like, 12 because they were in non dog friendly locations. I have selfies of Athena and almost the Ewes we spotted. I've been working on a sketchbook with inserted pictures from the whole crazy quest as well.
Kitten update:
