Criminal Minds
May. 9th, 2013 12:23 am8x21 - Nanny Dearest
(This typed as watching so some disjointedness)
The JJ & Morgan section of this episode? Made me HUGELY uncomfortable. Because a. THAT is arse-holey b. it edges into victim blaming (if you don't help - it's your fault) c. JUST *poskrs them* - SERIOUSLY? You get told she has PTSD, that she was suicidal, and you argue to keep pushing anyway? NO. Just NO.
Also - 2010? JJ was not a profiler - she would not have been involved in Morgan doing a cognitive interview with a victim.
Yes - in the end she helps because she sees the tv stuff - but the original approach was completely out of line AND unnecessary. They could say 'we interviewed her before and she couldn't help, she has serious PTSD' then had her come to them offering to help.
AND (and this is something they occasionally still remember) Blake should have been in the room with JJ and Tara not Morgan. Less threatening, given the nature of her trauma.
Add in the 'our nanny, we pretty much adopted her' thing, where they still failed to be concerned for the nanny as well as their kid? Urgh.
And tiny weird thing - I am a dog owner - I am not hugely regimented. Just ask my dog. (Yes there is a morning walk and an evening walk - it's not always the same way, or the same length, or the same time...ditto when parents walk theirs. There is an order, normally, to which dogs go first but...yeah) - BUT seriously, Tara named the dog and the type. WHY did they not have Garcia search? Rottweilers named Roscoe - surely that's a reduced suspect list? I just *head desks* (yes they did it after I typed that - but only because of the below mentioned :P)
Points for gay couple with non-stereotypical dog
Just the two going in a house where a baby is under threat? Yeah I'm just going to not....
Dear JJ - no it is not over. Him being dead does not undo the trauma. Closure maybe - end NO.
Also - more disjointed non-teamy stroylines (JJ and Hotch NEVER bond over their kids. It's weird. And Jack is with a Nanny/non-parent a hell of a lot more than Henry...More JJ is good, I just, miss the team *sighs*)
I have....yes I am still watching Criminal Minds, but it just, isn't the show it was. It's much less sensitive to victims now, and much more....half formed.
/end me being all rambly
Star Trek later! (as it is past midnight...oophs)
