House - Season 4

So as a break from the revision I decided to watch the last few episodes of season 4 of House. 0.0
If you haven't seen the episodes - do not click on the cut - do not even consider clicking on the cut. There are spoilers, and it will RUIN it if you do. *looks intimidating*. This post is mainly for me to get the feelings about it out of my system - as my parents are still weeks behind.
Okay - so generally - I have loved this season more than last season. For one thing, Wilson was around again (he came and went last season - and for me a lot of the show WAS the House/Wilson relationship - and to an almost equal part, the House/Cuddy and Wilson/Cuddy relationships.)
So keeping that in mind - you'll understand why later, when I talk about the finale - it effected me as much as it did.
I had some stargate geekyness over Carmen being in the first eps (and his character was cool :)) - it took me a while, but I started to like 13, neither Cutner nor Taub really made me like them though. Amber, I hated, but not in a bad way. She grew on me a bit as time went on, until she got fired, which was sad, but was also the point when I really started to like her.
The good thing about House and the way he treats people, is that you get to know them really well in a fairly short amount of time. I mean, we don't know 13's name (well we do know her surname now) but we know other things about her, not as much as the others, but enough. Plus *yay* for an interesting, non overstated, bisexual character. Loved the 'I think I dated that nurse...wait no.' LOL.
None of the episodes stood alone though - not well at least - they wouldn't be as easy to follow for a person who'd never seen the series before as previous seasons, but it was good at the same time. They didn't try to completely fulfill the need to accommodate casual viewers, instead it was much more designed to draw people in and keep them watching.
Anyhow - I liked the episodes - and of all the series effected by the strike, with less episodes etc. House I think managed the best to make it work. At no point did it feel like they were rushing, or like they had cut things short. There was enough time for everything.
However - the episodes that stick in my mind? the two-parter finale. Because OMG, it broke me.
The first part - 'House's Brain' - was very hard to follow and figure out - and alone it would have sucked - but paired with the next ep? OMG. The confusion and jumbled mess of 'House's Brain' backed by all of 'Wilson's Heart'. Just GUH.
'Wilson's Heart' - *cries* - I didn't like Amber - but then she got fired and she started dating Wilson and she softened and she brought out so much good in him (making him buy the bed he wanted - even if it wound up being something stupid? *hearts*) AND that relationship had an effect on House too. Seriously, HOUSE CARED.
The acting in that ep and the writing?!? - seriously if they don't get an award for it *waves hands*.
It WAS a horrendously HARSH episode. It took all of your hope and stomped on it until it was good and dead. BUT it worked. It was still touching.
I cried more watching the last 15 minutes than I've cried in a long while over a tv series - Amber dying, the goodbyes, WILSON, HOUSE, CUDDY. *guh*
The fact that Amber died because of her self-medicating - YES - if House hadn't called for a lift it all would have been fine - BUT if she hadn't self-medicated with that particular stuff? She would have survived - It really did break my heart - when House in the flashback told her not to (despite knowing it was a flashback) and the tear - WILSON - and then when Wilson tells her exactly what's happened and she KNOWS that that's why she dying *eep*
And what killed me most - the Wilson/House relationship - Wilson was willing to risk House's life for Amber and House did it for him. But in the end, Wilson is going to hate House for a while. (The convo on the bus with Amber and House? House admitting all that *cries*)
There was a whole lot of stuff in that episode. Just SO MUCH.
Plus - THIRTEEN! - we found out her surname in 'House's Brain' - THEN the test result?!? *flails* As I said, hope throughly stomped on.
*coughs* Okay - emotional House review done :) - feel free to back away from the computer now and wipe it from your memory.
And I really need good house icons *wanders off in search*
