Thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes! I had a nice day (booked the day off, had a good lay in then went out for lunch).
After much consideration, I went to see Age of Ultron again (hauled da along this time) - it was better on a second viewing. (I had enough cinema points to get in free, as a bonus ;))
The drive home was mostly Da bemoaning the lack of new stuff (we had trailers for star wars, fantastic four, jurassic world and mad max....oh and bond) - people are too scared of change in the entertainment industry generally it would seem.
I really need to go back and spelling edit my initial review. But short post second viewing thoughts
Natasha/Bruce remains an issue - it kinda effected the pacing and it just tilted it off that much.
I love the twins, I do. I hope Pietro isn't dead dead.
Like the Thor/Cap friendship and interplay.
I think part of the jolt is that there seems to be less a cohesive team than units that work well within the group. We had Hulk & Widow, Thor & Cap, Hawkeye & Twins and Iron Man was the drifter.
Love the Vision - and I liked having Helen Cho and Serkis' character was interesting in a glimpse we got (though arms dealer i know ;))
I like the interplay between Clint and Wanda and Pietro - and the fact that him not having her mess with him means they have a more even grounding.
FRIDAY is a fun change from JARVIS. Tony's PTSD is still going strong - Fury is still the old dude who cares, honest.
Generally it suffered from too much (that was the Da's judgement - too much in too little time) - and it was very safe Joss Whedon (he even used Firefly camera tricks - most noticeable in the shots of Clint flying the quinjet). I say 'safe' because he seems to have fallen into a pattern and style, that doesn't quite do this one justice.
Avengers Assemble worked. Ultron is a bit heavy.
I am probably going to write an epic for
het_bigbang though (Hawkeye focus, bridging the films and filling in backstory). I know at least two of you are prob doing Het Big Bang as well ;)
Work tomo - I get to make clay models with kids (providing any kids turn up....) - and sunday, then monday off (maybe tatton park for tudors on tour....I want to but, crazy bank holiday and working four days in a row after....)
