Thanks for all the birthday wishes - I had a good day, went to see Captain America: Civil War and had pizza. Then crashed with the cats for a while.

It was a better film than Age of Ultron - it had more fun than the other recent Marvel films, and they got the balance about right with intros.

There were some odd pacing moments - the whole spidey intro bit mainly - it was a whole extra slow 5 minutes - but that seems to be the Russo's style with the TV film/episode feel.

It was a bit - eh - on some things? Like there are lots of interesting elements to it, and there are going to be so many meta posts discussing things. I mean technically I fall on Cap's side (with added but if they hadn't been there, more people would have died - and the fact that some choices need to made fast - and who exactly would be the people making the choices).

Clint felt off - but that's kinda Clint in the movies? He's whatever they need for the purpose of the plot? (It's interesting that the two with kids are both with Cap on this - and they didn't touch on the fact that being registered would put their kids potentially in danger). It's a bit frustrating - and I really wish we could get a Black Widow and Hawkeye film, or a Hawkeyes film (because KATE).

It suffered from 'lookit all these guys' though on the up side we got more than one person of colour for the whole film (well, ish, no idea where Rhodey was to begin with?) - Wanda and Natasha and Sharon did get some good action and their own part of the meta (bonus for Sharon sides with Steve because of the values and advice her aunt gave her, as what to do as a woman to make a place for yourself - though it was heavily coloured by some 'because it's steve side').

I kept thinking they were bait and switching Bucky killing the Starks. I am INSANELY miffed that Maria Stark is a blonde white woman (seriously, why no Latino/mediterrain Maria?). Which is a random thing to be miffed by, but there we go.

They still went for 'do tiny thing with this marvel villan' thing (Strucker in AOU and now Zemo *sighs*).

It was interesting in that the civil war was really driven by the villan - but its....it lacked the build up? MCU never made us believe that Steve and Tony were friends. That flattens the whole thing.

I am a bit.....uncertain about Rhodey's future. I mean, why did they have to cripple Rhodey? (I know why they had it happen - its flagging the Vision is as dangerous as Wanda thing - which is good, because to be honest pissed no end at Wanda under house arrest but Vision is all good. Men with scary power people can deal with, foreign girl with scary power people just want to control/destroy URGH).

But I liked, kinda, T'Challa - there were some issues - but he had the best and most complete arc

So yeah - pluses and minuses.

And some Lola pictures:

(She likes smelly human areas - she is one of those cats)
