Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted?
More - prior to this year I used to only write one or two fics a year.
What's your favourite story of the year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you happiest?
Any of the Carson/Daniel fics - I couldn't believe that no one had written the pairing - when there are various Teal'c/Teyla etc pairings floating around and they haven't ever met on screen (yet) whereas in Rising, Daniel and Carson DID - it's a fun pairing to play with and explore.
Did you take any writing risks this year? What did you learn from them?
My ficathons! I signed up for two in the same month - and as my first ever ficathons (I always do that kind of thing - my sewing teacher in scotland used to always say that *g* - mine was the prettiness, most complicated, longest to make cushion of the bunch *g*) - I learned not to leave fic writing to the last minute so much when I have a deadline - and that I even in a short amount of time I can write a good length fic, featuring a pairing I don't normally consider, without it sucking so bad *g*
Do you have any fanfic or profic goals for the New Year?
Write in another fandom than the gateverse, without crossovers - and finish the fics that have been sitting there for an ungodly amount of time (HiPS and Hangman damnit) - and get my other three 'episodes' of SGP done.
My Best Story of the Year
Ummm...reviews wise - it would have to be A Beverage of Great Import - I have never had that many reviews before - the one I consider my best? That's hard - Playing Messenger I think because it works so well despite being a SGA OC combined with a SG-1 main character and little else *loves Evy*
Story Most Under appreciated by the Universe in My Opinion
Bellerophon Falling - I'm proud of it - it could have been better I admit that - but I still love it even though I have never had a single comment on it - I think I would feel the same about Hangman though, if it wasn't still a WiP
Most Fun Story
My talk like a pirate day fic - I loved writing that - yay for walter getting the last word :)
Most Sexy Story
Ack - that's been posted? There aren't any especially sexy bits in any of my fics of 2007, or at least not the parts posted (damn I so should have gotten those bits posted before the end of 2007 shouldn't I?)
Hardest Story to Write
HiPS and Bellerophon Falling equally. HiPS because it really requires me to be in exactly the right state of mind, BF simply for the scale of the thing.
Biggest Surprise
Neither One Hand Nor The Hangman's Noose - a certain lead character became a total SLUT in that fic without me even intending it - oh and I will NEVER be able to watch Prince of Thieves again without spotting all the slash moments *head desk* - plus it includes a whole bunch of pairings that I have never written before.
Overall - I'm proud of the fics I've done - even if I've only ever had a tiny group of people reading them - I still enjoy writing them.
I'm disappointed that I failed to finish Nanowrimo (or even post the weirdass fic that I did manage to write) as well as failing to complete the last few pages of NOHNTHN and part two of HiPS before the end of the year.
Hopefully I'll do better in the year ahead :)
Also - it really does amaze me how easy it was for me to write my two Carson/Daniel fics - in each of which only one of the boys features - and somehow make the pairing work in both
And, as a small end note - to start me going this year - feel free to prompt me :)
